PROACTIVE PATENTS

About Us

Our Story

The Third-Party Preissuance Submission (3PS) initiative included in the American Invents Act (AIA), was the catalyst for the inception of Proactive Patents. This patent quality initiative, which enables third-parties to anonymously submit relevant art prior to allowance, immediately resonated with our founder Raffi Gostanian. Raffi recognized a business opportunity, but quickly realized that existing patent software fell short of the claim analysis required to effectively provide this service.

The requirement for automated claims analysis resulted in the formation of Proactive Patents. Along the way, the power of this hybrid organization became clear. We had engineers working side-by-side with attorneys to develop the claim analysis software, ClaimVision. The engineers needed the expertise of the patent attorneys to understand claim structure and language. Likewise, while working on patent preparation for clients, the attorneys started leveraging the expertise of the engineers to gain a deeper understanding of the technology covered in the patent applications. The net result – more accurate patent analysis software and stronger patent applications.

Today, Proactive Patents provides a broad range of patent services powered by our claim analytics. We offer a unique blend of intellectual property and technical expertise to maximize the value of our clients’ patent portfolios while eliminating unnecessary costs.
